Wazo Software: Wazo 17.17 released

Added by François Blackburn about 1 month ago

Sprint Review 17.17

Hello Wazo community!

This release is our birthday release, since the fork! Thanks for following us this last year and keep in touch, the best is yet to come. :)

New features in this sprint

REST API: REST APIs have been added for SIP trunks, timezones, prompt languages, call permissions voicemail and IAX configuration.

Network: NAT configuration has been simplified, when the Wazo server is hosted in a datacenter.

API interconnection: Wazo is now able to use OAuth2 authentication client mechanisms to interact with external API systems. The first example we are working on is to interconnect Wazo with Zoho, other such API include Google, Office 365, etc.

Ongoing features

User and Tenant Management: We are currently reworking the user and entities (a.k.a tenant) configuration. This should make installations with multiple entities feel more natural in future versions.

REST API: We are working towards replacing the old orange admin web interface with the more modern and easier to maintain blue web interface (wazo-admin-ui on `/admin`). Since wazo-admin-ui is only using REST API under the hood, we need REST API to cover all cases of administration of Wazo. Hence we are completing the set of REST API offered by Wazo. You can find the complete API documentation on http://api.wazo.community.

5 bugs were fixed, 14 features were added and 6 technical issues were resolved since Wazo 17.16. The complete list of features and fixes is available at http://projects.wazo.community/versions/270

Wazo Software: XiVO versions older than 14.01 are now deprecated

Added by Pascal Cadotte-Michaud about 2 months ago

Hi everyone!

We'd like to make a short announcement regarding XiVO versions older than 14.01, i.e. dating back to 2013. According to our deprecation policy, those versions will deprecated as of 2018-01-01. This means that upgrades from those versions to the latest Wazo version will no longer be supported.

This change will apply starting with Wazo 18.01. We will keep announcing new deprecations every year.

For more details, please read the deprecation policy or come ask your questions on our forums

Sprint Review 17.16

New features in this sprint

REST API: Groups can now ring arbitrary extensions. This was already possible with a specific user, a custom line and a Local channel. This API does the same thing, only a lot simpler. There is no graphical interface to use this API yet, though.

REST API: Until now, schedules in REST API could only be associated to incoming calls. Schedules can now be associated with users, groups and outgoing calls via REST API.

Ongoing features

User and Tenant Management: We are currently reworking the user and entities (a.k.a tenant) configuration. This should make installations with multiple entities feel more natural in future versions.

REST API: We are working towards replacing the old orange admin web interface with the more modern and easier to maintain blue web interface (wazo-admin-ui on /admin). Since wazo-admin-ui is only using REST API under the hood, we need REST API to cover all cases of administration of Wazo. Hence we are completing the set of REST API offered by Wazo. You can find the complete API documentation on http://api.wazo.community.

2 bugs were fixed, 11 features were added and 6 technical issues were resolved since Wazo 17.15. The complete list of features and fixes is available at http://projects.wazo.community/versions/269

Wazo Software: Wazo 17.15 released

Added by Sébastien Duthil 3 months ago

Sprint Review 17.15

We are looking for beta testers for the Wazo Zapier plugin. You can click this invite link to try Wazo with Zapier.

Security update

Chat: We fixed a security issue of Wazo 17.14 where the chat history of a user could be seen by another authenticated malicious user.

Important bug fix

Web client: Wazo servers installed or upgraded on 17.14 between October 10 and October 24 2017 are incompatible with Web clients such as Unicom. We released a fixed version on October 24 to fix Wazo 17.14. Wazo 17.15 also fixes the issue.

New features in this sprint

REST API: We have added a new API to be able to switch a call between devices while keeping the conversion going. For example, if Alice is on the phone with Bob from her office, Alice can switch the call from her desk phone to her mobile phone without disrupting the call so that she can leave her office without ending the conversation.

Ongoing features

User and Tenant Management: We are currently reworking the user and entities (a.k.a tenant) configuration. This should make installations with multiple entities feel more natural in future versions.

Performance: We are making changes to the way xivo-ctid-ng handles messages from Asterisk to be able to handle more simultaneous calls.

New upstream versions

Asterisk: Wazo now includes Asterisk 15.0.0. [See the Asterisk 15 release announcement](http://www.digium.com/blog/2017/10/03/open-source-asterisk-15-released/)

5 bugs were fixed, 5 features were added and 2 technical issues were resolved since Wazo 17.14. The complete list of features and fixes is available at http://projects.wazo.community/versions/268

Wazo Software: Wazo 17.14 released

Added by Sébastien Duthil 3 months ago

Looking for testers

We are looking for beta testers for the Wazo Zapier plugin.

Sprint Review 17.14

Security update

Asterisk: Asterisk 14.6.2 has been included in Wazo 17.14.

New features in this sprint

Wazo Client: The Wazo Client 17.14.1 has been released and can be used to replace the previous CTI client.

Webhooks: Webhooks can be triggered on a per user basis for chat, agent login/logouts and device status changes.

Ongoing features

Plugin management: We want developers to be able to write and share Wazo plugins easily. For this, we need a central place where users can browse plugins and developers can upload them. That's what we call the Plugin Market. Right now, the market already serves the list of available plugins, but it is very static. Work will now be done to add a front end to our plugin market, allowing users to browse, add and modify plugins.

Webhooks: Webhooks allow Wazo to notify other applications about events that happen on the telephony server, e.g. when a call arrives, when it is answered, hung up, when a new contact is added, etc. Webhooks are working correctly, but they still need some polishing: performance tweaking, handling HTTP authentication, listing the history of webhooks triggered, allowing users to setup their own webhooks in order to connect with Zapier, for example. We're also thinking of triggering scripts instead of HTTP requests, making Wazo all the more flexible when interconnecting with other tools.

Performance: We are making changes to the way xivo-ctid-ng handle messages from Asterisk to be able to handle more simultaneous calls.

4 bugs were fixed, 4 features were added and 6 technical issues were resolved since Wazo 17.13. The complete list of features and fixes is available at http://projects.wazo.community/versions/267

Sprint Review 17.13

Security update

Asterisk: Asterisk 14.6.1 has been included in Wazo 17.13. It contains many security fixes including one for the RTPbleed bug.

New features in this sprint

Admin UI: The user plugin now allows the administrator to change the user's group membership from the user form.

Webhooks: Add the ability to trigger webhooks only for events regarding a given user.

Ongoing features

Plugin management: We want developers to be able to write and share Wazo plugins easily. For this, we need a central place where users can browse plugins and developers can upload them. Wazo Software: Wazo 17.12 released

Added by Sébastien Duthil 5 months ago

Sprint Review 17.12

New features in this sprint

REST API: A new REST API has been added to fetch a user's chat history. Until now, the chat history was not kept on the server: this means that one chat interface (say, the XiVO Client) could only see its own history, not messages sent from other softwares (say, the web interface Unicom).

Wazo plugins: The administration interface now shows if a Wazo plugin has a new version available and allows the administrator to upgrade plugins to a more recent version.

Technical features

Web Hooks: Options have been added to make web hook configuration more usable. These options include, the content type, trusted certificates and templates for the body and URL.

Plugins: wazo-plugind memory usage has been improved.

Chat: The chat history is now stored in the database and included in backups (see the updated restore procedure).

Ongoing features

Plugin management: We want developers to be able to write and share Wazo plugins easily. For this, we need a central place where users can browse plugins and developers can upload them. That's what we call the Plugin Market. Right now, the market already serves the list of available plugins, but it is very static. Wazo Software: Wazo 17.11 released

Added by François Blackburn 6 months ago

Sprint Review 17.11

Hello Wazo community! Here comes the release of Wazo 17.11!

New features in this sprint

REST API: We have added a new REST API to add outgoing webhooks. The REST API is not yet available in the web interface, but it will come in time. Outgoing webhooks allow Wazo to notify other applications about events that happen on the telephony server, e.g. when a call arrives, when it is answered, hung up, when a new contact is added, etc.

Plugins: Wazo plugins can now depend on each other. This allows us to create metaplugins, that will install multiple plugins at once. It also allows different plugins to rely on the same basic plugin, without having to handle the installation of the basic plugin manually.

Technical features

Asterisk: Asterisk was updated from 14.5.0 to 14.6.0

Chat: We have integrated a new software in Wazo, namely MongooseIM. We will progressively insert MongooseIM in the heart of the Wazo chat, so that we can benefit from its features: chat history, chat rooms, mobile push notifications, and maybe XMPP connectivity...

Ongoing features

Plugin management: There is still a lot to be done to the plugin management service. e.g. upgrade, HA, ...

Webhooks: We are adding a new way of interconnecting Wazo with other software: webhooks. Outgoing webhooks allow Wazo to notify other applications about events that happen on the telephony server, e.g. when a call arrives, when it is answered, hung up, when a new contact is added, etc. Incoming webhooks also allow Wazo to be notified of events happening on other applications, e.g. a new customer was added in your CRM, a new employee was added in your directory, etc. Unfortunately, there is no magic and the application in question must be able to send or receive webhooks so that Wazo can talk with it. See also this blog post (sorry, it's in French) about Wazo and webhooks.

The instructions for installing Wazo or upgrading Wazo are available in the documentation.

For more details about the aforementioned topics, please see the roadmap linked below.

See you at the next sprint review!
